NORTH CAROLINA AIR FORCE RESERVIST INVENTS QUIRKY WAY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE MILITARY

CLAYTON, NC -- Air Force Reserve MSgt. Robert Poole, a balding 50 year-old has an idea to help the wounded veterans. He’ll give proceeds from the sale of his “BALD” t-shirt to the Wounded Warrior Project.

“I was jogging in Kuwait one day and feeling pretty good about myself. I had recently lost 36 pounds and looked down at my plain white tee-shirt and thought, bald men should have their own logo,” says Poole.   Poole, an air transportation journeyman based at Pope AFB, NC with the 53rd Aerial Port Squadron, immediately started drawing creative concepts for the logo-embossed tee-shirt. “I envisioned ‘three little hairs’ coming off a shiny bald head and the word BALD under it, but B.A.L.D. is an acronym for BOLD ALL-AMERICAN LOVEABLE DUDE.  Hey, it’s a cute design and it makes a statement,” Poole said.

Poole, who has no experience designing tee-shirts or logos and who cannot even draw a stick figure, has spent weeks creating the “perfect tee-shirt with the perfect quirky logo” that pokes fun at his own baldness.

The Inspiration

In Kuwait, Poole was touched deeply by the dead and wounded that he helped move back to the U.S. for recovery or burial. “It broke my heart to send those flag draped coffins back on those cargo planes and realize the sacrifices the country’s military are making every day. The sale of the tee-shirts is my American way of giving back and helping.”

“The wounded soldiers and their families need our help. I’m going to give the proceeds from the sale of the t-shirts to The Wounded Warrior Project. Hopefully it will help the families that are really hurting both emotionally and financially,” comments Poole.  “I want to be a patriotic American and do my part.”

The all-cotton tee-shirt is available in medium, large, x-large, 2xl, and 3xl and retails for $14.99.  The tee-shirt is machine washable.
